TORNADO SEASON IS HERE! Everyone needs to make a family plan to be ready for any weather emergency. Items needed on hand at all times include: A tone weather radio with extra batteries. Good flashlight and extra batteries should be one of the first items in any emergency plan. Any medicine taken daily should be where it can be located and taken with you immediately. Water should also be readily available for a quick departure.
Prepare a STORM kit. This should include a blanket, a spare radio with batteries, snacks or energy-type food, jumper cables, flares. Severe thunderstorms, heavy rain and tornado's can strike very quickly, being prepared saves lives. "Ready in 3 Steps Program" fliers are available at City Hall. Everyone who lives in our area knows these storm can be devastating. Each and every family member should know where these items are located and be ready to move to a safe place if a winter storm warning is issued.
If at all possible each family should plan to take care of themselves by making these plans ahead of time. There are times when it's not possible to leave home and safely make it to a shelter. BE PREPARED!!
