The next regular City Council meeting will be March 8, 2010 at 7pm.
Action taken by the City Council at a recent meeting will change the regular meeting of the City Council to the second Thursday of the month. The new change will start at the May regular meeting. May 13, 2010 at 7pm
New utility deposit amount for rentals is $125. This includes water/wastewater and trash service. There is a 5 bag limit for trash pick-up per week. The new amount is for new services only.
The City has received a solid waste grant to re-cycle certain types of plastic and tin cans. The project is doing very well. Items to re-cycle are numbers1 - 2 plastics and tin cans. Please remove bottle lids and rinse everything out. Labels should be removed if possible. Re-cycling of paper is still be taken at the North entrance driveway at Central School on Gibbs in the big green dumpster (you may use this dumpster everyday). Next date for the City re-cycling is, December 12, from 9am till noon at the North water tower on Madison. Start re-cycling today!!
The new voluntary annexation of highway 97 south of Pierce City is now in place. The new City limit signs will soon be installed on the north side of highway 60 and 97. This will move the city limits out by about a mile and one third. Only the corrider and no personal property was included in this annexation.
The City of Pierce City is included in the new South half of Lawrence County Enhanced Enterprise Zone. This will make it possible for Pierce City to be included in searches for new businesses within the zone. This is becoming a very useful tool in other Enhanced areas.
